Liraglutide injection, for subcutaneous use

Dosing

You will be started on 0.6 mg for the first week, 1.2mg week 2, 1.8mg week 3, 2.4mg week 4 and then 3mg week 5. (Depending on side effects)

  • Saxenda is a multi-dose prefilled pen.
  • Saxenda is used once daily.
  • Inject under the skin (subcutaneously) only.
  • A pen needle prescription will also be called in.
  • If you miss a dose, skip dose and continue with the next days injection.

Side Effects

Constipation: If you experience constipation while on the medication, please start MiraLAX. You can also add Colace if additional intervention is needed.

Nausea: Please call office if unable to manage with BRAT diet.

Storage and handling

  • Prior to first use, Store your Pen in the refrigerator between 36°F to 46°F (2°C to 8°C).
  • After first use, Store your pen at room temperature between 59°F to 86°F or in the refrigerator between 36°F to 46°F.
  • Do not freeze.

Make sure to schedule your 1-month follow-up to touch base with Dr. Fleming and so we can call refills in.
